Micro-needling is an innovative treatment providing a solution to fine lines, wrinkles, scars and acne scars as well as improvement to the overall condition skin, tone and texture. It scientifically reduces fine lines, plumps facial volume and fades scarring using a method of introducing controlled trauma to the skin triggering release of growth factors, an increase in collagen production and elasticity in the skin.

The process involves using small needles to create tiny punctures in the skin which triggers the bodies natural wound healing response to renew skin cells, produce collagen and stimulate elastin. Creating tiny punctures also creates superficial micro-channels, which allows topical serums, and creams to be absorbed more effectively into the skin.

The advanced medical-grade automated micro-needling devices used at Skin Health Spa have a much higher success rate than previous generation roller needling. Traditional rollers have a fixed needle length or penetration depth meaning you can’t tailor the treatment to target different thickness of skin tissue like you can with an automated pen device. This will allows your aesthetician to properly address the specific needs of thinner skin on your lower eyelids, crow’s feet, and forehead or thicker skin of your upper lip, décolletage and cheeks.

The automated design also eliminates the ‘drag’ you get with a roller, protecting the new skin cell growth providing quicker healing.

The skin’s repair process results in a thicker dermis with the appearance of softer wrinkles, plumped skin and faded scars.

Micro-needling treatment can help to improve the appearance of:

  • Fine Lines and Wrinkles
  • Ageing skin
  • Pigmentation / Uneven Skin Tone
  • Acne Scars
  • Body Scars
  • Stretch Marks
  • Crows Feet
  • Sagging Skin
  • Open pores / Improve Skin Texture

Microneedling FAQs

  • How Does It Work?

Microneedling uses small needles to create tiny punctures in the skin. The process involves using small needles to create tiny punctures in the skin which triggers the bodies natural wound healing response to renew skin cells. As the skin heals, it produces collagen and triggers elastin, this results in plumped, rejuvenated skin. This helps to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scars, open pores and rough skin.

Creating tiny punctures also creates superficial micro-channels, which allows topical serums, and creams to be absorbed more effectively into the skin. The action from the needle also improves the blood circulation in the skin resulting in more radiant, glowing skin

  • Are There Any Side Effects?

Prior to your treatment your aesthetician or Doctor/Nurse will apply a topical numbing agent to make the treatment comfortable. A sterile needle-tip containing a number of tiny micro-needles is attached to the automated pen device. A layer of topical serum can be applied to the skin pre-needling to penetrate active ingredients into the skin. Once the appropriate needle depth is selected the pen device will be gently glided across the skin in one direction then another until the entire treatment area has been covered. This results in thousands of microscopic channels throughout the entire treatment area and allows the serum to reach the target areas.

  • Are There Any Side Effects?

Automated microneedling is a no downtime treatment. Skin will look slightly pink to moderately red after treatment but this should settle within a few hours. Fibroblasts – the cells that synthesize new collagen – are active for up to as much as one year after just one treatment. New collagen and stimulated elastin produce younger, healthier, plumper, and firmer skin, effectively reducing the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, acne scars for an overall better tone and texture.

  • How Many Treatments Would I Need?

Typically a series of 3-6 treatments is recommended, depending upon your area of correction or concern.. Treatments are usually spaced at 4-week intervals. Deep wrinkles, advanced sun damage, stretch marks, or any type of scars, usually require 6 or more treatments to achieve the desired results.

  • What Results Can I Expect To See?

Plumping effects can be seen almost immediately, however the natural healing process takes time, so it can take up to six weeks before you see significant results – although some improvements can be seen much sooner.

Microneedling improves skin texture and reduces the appearance of wrinkles, regenerates tissue, improves the appearance of scars, reduces the size of pores, and reduces the appearance of stretch marks

Living with acne was one thing, seeing scars and pock marks caused by spots is another.  I thought nothing would make a difference but Microneedling Treatments and Chemical Peels really have - very little downtime, not overly expensive and they work.
